Build an esieabot 2021-2022

Warning

This page of documentation is intended for those who want to build from scratch their esieabot by making the acquisition and manufacture of parts themselves.

If you already own an esieabot, please read the assembly manual. If you want to get a full kit, please contact us.

Chassis

The frame of the esieabot is composed of 3 metal plates. The plans are available here. The esieabot 2021-2022 chassis model is also available for purchase on Adafruit in a kit. This kit also contains the motors and necessary hardware.

Note

The possibility to buy directly the complete chassis with motors and screws is under consideration. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested.

Motor

The esieabot moves via 2 DC motors. They can be purchased on Adafruit for 3€ each or on Aliexpress for 2€50 each.

Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi Zero WH is the brain of the esieabot. It can be purchased from official resellers. The Zero W model allows the Raspberry Pi to be connected to a Wi-Fi network. The WH model is identical to the W model but it comes with pre-soldered pins, which simplifies assembly. To this you need to add a Micro SD card of at least 4GB (the official kit comes with an 8GB card) to install the operating system.

Power supply

To power the Raspberry Pi, any USB battery that can deliver 500mA output is sufficient. For the motors, you need at least a 3V supply to make them start turning. The official kit is powered by 4 AA batteries, so 6V in total.
